How can I disable compact mode?

Being new to v6.x, I hate that posts come up by default in compact mode. I want them to work as they did in v5.x, where they come up as a single level list of posts/files.

How can I get this behavior back?

You cannot - that display is inherent in the internal design of v6 and is one of the reasons RAM usage is much lower.

The closest you might get is to do CTRL-A to select all posts, and the Right Cursor to open up the compacted posts. However doing so is liable to be slow and cause a huge increase in RAM usage.

I guess the real question is why you even want to revert to the older display?

I don't like the current method. I like to see everything that's being downloaded. One reason it's a problem is because the grouping is not always correct - and it can't be because posters don't always follow the same format. Another problem is that an NZB doesn't always contain all the files it should, and you don't know that if you can't see the full listing. Also, because of the way NewsBin currently works, posts don't dissappear from the Download tab if they're part of a parent post until the whole parent post is complete. That makes it a mess to figure out, at a glance, what's left.

So there are numerous reasons why I don't like compact mode and have always refused to use it.

I don't have a problem with NewsBin having it, but I have a big problem with NewsBin forcing users to use it and not giving them a choice in the matter.

It's sort of a moot point at this point. This is how 6 works. You can get used to it or revert to 5.XX. There's not really any other choice.

The only thing it compacts is rars, pars and qpms files (.001,.002) which have to be grouped to actually produce a meaningful output anyway. I could understand not liking it if it was compacting JPG's or other stand alone files together but, it doesn't

I gave the reasons I don't like it above - and they are perfectly valid for rars, pars, and qpms files. If v6 works this way right now, so be it - but that doesn't mean I can't put in a vote for a modification in an upcoming version. :)
