I have tried to install latest version (final) from 6.42RC1, build 2135, but install fails with error message that it 'requires internet connectivity' to continue. I have checked internet connnectivity, but retries still fail. Hmmm, would a restart of PC clear this prob, or any other ideas, please? Newsbin IS closed in running processes. Thanks.

Normally it means your firewall is blocking the installer off the internet.

Windows firewall permanently allows Newsbin, AV (AVG) firewall is disabled, as ais rext of AV.

I think I may be stuck with this until next update - I have now tried restart, + ending all possible 'running processes', and I still get the error.

I am not much of a "tech head", though. OS is WInXP as upto date as it's going to get now, so my thinking very basic, with my sparse knowledge. Thanks for the quick reply, and the app of course, it remains cleversest thing on the whole PC.

There's a work around, the full installer that doesn't download from the 'net but, only dex knows the URL. I'll point him at this topic.

The installer would be blocked by the firewall even if Newsbin is allowed because it is a different program. You can either explicitly include nb642-install.exe or download the full installer from the website. It's on http://www.newsbin.com/freetrial.php - just scroll down the page until you get to the Help section and look for the link to the full installer. It doesn't need Internet access to complete the installation.
