Newsbin wonderfully groups all similar files together. However, with the evolution of the news groups, I'm looking for a fast way to select a bunch of .par2 files. Is this possible at all?

Not sure if this will help but you could just search your downloaded for ".par2" and then download them.

Seems like what you're looking for is "Ctrl-R" it reads and displays the contents of a set including the small PAR file.
